Indian Police have arrested eight individuals in Gurugram in separate cases related to illegal drugs and gambling during a targeted operation conducted between May 10 and 12. The action led to the seizure of over 6 kilograms of illegal marijuana, 22 grams of heroin, cash, and two vehicles.
On the intervening night of May 11 and 12, police intensified their operations against drug-related crimes. According to a police, four individuals were arrested from different locations across Gurugram with illegal drugs in their possession.
The Crime Branch arrested Jitender, a resident of Dholpur in Rajasthan, from Laxman Vihar with 1 kg 240 grams of illegal marijuana. In a separate operation, Kamlesh alias Popat, a native of Siwan, Bihar, was nabbed from Khandsa with 1 kg 980 grams of marijuana.
The Crime Branch team also apprehended Sushant Parmar, a resident of Palam Vihar. The police recovered 3 kg 50 grams of marijuana and a scooter from his possession.
In another case, officials from the Crime Branch Farrukhnagar arrested Gaurav, a local resident, from Sultanpur Farrukhnagar Road under the KMP flyover. He was found carrying 22 grams of heroin and was riding a motorbike, which was also seized.
In total, police recovered 6 kg 270 grams of illegal marijuana, 22 grams of heroin, one scooter, and one motorbike from these four accused.
On May 10, police also took action against illegal gambling activities. Officers from Rajendra Park Police Station arrested four accused from two locations in Gurugram.
From village Babupur, police apprehended Chetan Sharma and Lakshya Gaur alias Sumit, both from Rewari. In a separate raid near Surat Nagar Phase-1, two more accused — Himanshu and Naveen, also residents of Rewari — were arrested.
A total of ₹1,390 in cash was recovered from the accused, which was being used for gambling purposes. Police confirmed that two separate cases were registered against the individuals under relevant sections of the Gambling Act at Rajendra Park Police Station.
Police have intensified their efforts to crack down on the sale and possession of illegal substances, as well as unlawful gambling. Officials stated that further investigations are underway, and the accused will be produced in court as per legal procedures.
