Macau casino-resort hotels sees full bookings ahead of Labour Day: Report

Several luxury hotels within Macau’s casino resorts have already been marked as fully booked for the entire duration of the upcoming Labour Day holiday period in mainland China. According to a report by GGRAsia, 15 out of 33 high-end hotel towers, predominantly situated in the Cotai Strip, are showing no vacancy for any of the five nights from 1 May 1 to 5 May.

The Labour Day holiday, officially designated by China’s State Council, runs from 1 to 5 May. The demand for accommodation during this extended break highlights the strong interest from mainland Chinese tourists, particularly in Macau’s integrated resorts.

Fully booked hotels span major operators

According to the report, the properties showing complete unavailability span major operators in both the Macau Peninsula and Cotai. Among those with no rooms left for the holiday period are Grand Lisboa by SJM Holdings Ltd; MGM Macau and all three towers, M Tower, Emerald Tower, and Skylofts at MGM Cotai, managed by MGM China Holdings Ltd.

Additional fully booked venues include The Grand Suites at Four Seasons in Cotai, under Sands China Ltd; Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace, managed by Wynn Macau Ltd; and an extensive list of luxury hotels at Galaxy Macau operated by Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, such as Galaxy Hotel, Banyan Tree Macau, Hotel Okura Macau, JW Marriott Hotel Macau, The Ritz-Carlton, Raffles at Galaxy Macau, and Andaz Macau.

Room rates surge for holiday period

Room prices for the remaining available accommodations have risen sharply. Rates for standard rooms or suites on the Cotai Strip during the Labour Day break range from MOP1,000 ($125) to over MOP20,000 ($2,500) per night, excluding taxes and service charges. Prices are highest on the second and third days of the holiday period, with minimum nightly rates approaching MOP4,000 ($500).

The GGRAsia report said that among the highest-priced offerings are suites within The Londoner Macao complex, where rooms at The Londoner Hotel, Londoner Court, and the newly branded Londoner Grand, formerly the Sheraton Macao, are listed between MOP10,000 and MOP22,898 ($1,250 to $2,800) per night for the first three nights of the break.

Strong tourism outlook for Macau

The early booking status suggests that Macau is preparing for a strong influx of visitors over the Labour Day period. This trend supports ongoing recovery efforts in the city’s tourism and gaming sectors, with Cotai’s integrated resorts continuing to play a central role in attracting mainland Chinese tourists.
