MGM China has launched its latest initiative to strengthen responsible gaming (RG) practices with the rollout of the “”. The programme is designed to equip team members with comprehensive knowledge and tools to support RG awareness while contributing to the long-term stability and sustainability of Macau’s society.
The initiative was officially announced on 6 May 2025, at an opening ceremony held in the back-of-house area of MGM Cotai, drawing attendance from multiple dignitaries and partners.
The new programme includes a variety of learning and engagement activities such as on-site roadshows, interactive pop-up games, online quizzes, and specialised training sessions on gambling-related knowledge. These efforts aim to create a more extensive and effective platform for MGM employees to understand and promote responsible gaming.
MGM China stated that the initiative will support team members in developing a deeper awareness of gambling risks, helping them play a more active role in ensuring a balanced and healthy environment within the workplace and wider community.
The programme is organised by MGM and guided by key Macao SAR government bodies including the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) and the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ). Academic support comes from the University of Macau (UM) and the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU).
Co-organisers include the Macao Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM), Macao New Chinese Youth Association, Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office, Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home, and the Youth Volunteers Association of Macao. These partnerships reflect the multi-sector commitment to responsible gaming education and community well-being.
Tian Han, Executive Vice President of Gaming Operations & Strategic Marketing at MGM emphasised in his speech that MGM has once again joined hands with different organizations to launch this new “MGM Responsible Gaming Employee Care Program”, aiming to go hand in hand with the “MGM RG Community Engagement Scheme” that began last year. Together, these two programs will initiate an “internal and external dual-track” approach, which will not only promote social advocacy but also strengthen the professional skills of employees.
MGM emphasised that the initiative is aligned with Macau’s overall policies on responsible gaming and sustainable development. Through this programme, MGM plans to continue working with stakeholders across government, education, and social sectors to share RG information more widely and contribute to a healthier gaming environment.
