As Michigan continues its crackdown on illegal online gambling, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued another set of cease-and-desist orders to four offshore operators: You Wager, Bet Pop Casino, Wager 7, and Discount Wager. The board found these platforms were offering internet gaming and sports betting to Michigan residents without the required licences.
Each operator has been ordered to immediately stop all gambling operations involving residents of Michigan. They have 14 days to comply or risk further legal action in coordination with the Michigan Department of Attorney General.
An were accepting bets on sports and casino-style games without state approval. These operations violates Michigan’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code. They also put consumers at risk by offering no player protections, responsible gambling measures, or legal support if disputes arise.
Speaking on the matter, MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said, “Illegal gambling operations prey on vulnerable consumers and undermine the integrity of the regulated gaming industry. Michigan residents deserve the protections that come with licensed, legal gaming. We will continue to take strong action against those who skirt the law.”
The orders follow several recent enforcement actions by the MGCB. Earlier last week, the Michigan Gaming Control Board issued cease-and-desist orders to 14 online gambling operators that were illegally offering internet gaming and sports betting to Michigan residents. The unlicensed platforms—BetFlip, BetMania, Casino Castle, Casino Extreme, Casobet Casino, EmuCasino, Golden Lion, Gossip Slots, Irish Luck Casino, Juicy Stakes.com, Juicy Stakes.eu, Lotus Asia Casino, Red Lion Casino, and SlotGems Casino—were found to be operating without proper state authorisation.
The MGCB had taken similar action against several other offshore sites. In April, it ordered 13 gambling websites to stop offering services in the state, citing violations of Michigan’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code. These sites were not compliant with state rules on player protections, responsible gambling measures, or data security.
In March, the agency also targeted Panama-based platforms SportsBetting.ag and BetOnline.ag for unlawfully accepting bets on sports, casino games, politics, and more. The operators were given 14 days to comply or face further legal consequences.
The MGCB encourages residents to gamble only on platforms that are licensed and regulated under Michigan law. It has also provided a list of approved operators on its official website at . Anyone who comes across illegal gambling activity or suspicious websites is also encouraged to report it by calling the MGCB hotline at 1-888-314-2682 or emailing [email protected].
