MOU between Lagos State Government (LSLGA) and TVC Communications
The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) announced its collaboration with TVC Communications on 5 May 2025. Distinguished by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), this partnership represents a joint effort to advocate for legal, transparent, and responsible gaming activities across the state.
A strategic alliance
The alliance between the LSLGA and TVC Communications is more than just an agreement. It is creating a gaming environment that is safe and enjoyable for eligible participants. The driving force for this alliance is to tackle pressing issues within the gaming sector, namely, the prevention of underage gaming and better responsible gaming practices.
The alliance is meant to encourage gaming for intellectual entertainment and enhance the prestige of the industry in general. Moreover, the LSLGA and TVC Communications aim to foster an environment in which gaming is a fair source of entertainment and a player’s well-being is still prioritised.
Key pillars of the partnership
The Memorandum of Understanding identifies several key areas that aim to achieve the shared objectives of the and TVC Communications.
- Amplify advocacy against underage gambling– This is essential to both entities, which are determined to intensify their campaigns to discourage children from engaging in gaming activities. The pledge will involve targeted campaigns and educational initiatives to highlight the risks of underage gaming.
- Promote intellectual, entertaining, and responsible play– The coalition will emphasise promoting gaming as a means of intellectual stimulation and enjoyment while simultaneously always stressing the need for responsible play. This initiative involves urging gamers to impose limits and be mindful of their gaming activities.
- Elevate public awareness through powerful multimedia campaigns– Leveraging ’ wide reach and multifaceted multimedia platforms, the collaboration will launch high-impact campaigns to educate the public about legal gaming, encourage responsible gaming, and make people aware of the dangers of illegal gambling.
Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority must reaffirm its mandate to protect, inform, and empower gamers throughout the state. Central to this collaboration is the common desire to safeguard the interests of gamblers, supply them with information required for making informed choices, and allow them to participate in gaming activities responsibly.
Expenditure on education and entertainment
In characterising the partnership, Bashir Are, LSLGA’s Chief Executive Officer, pointed to the board’s dedication to promoting educational and entertainment initiatives. He asserted, “We have sponsored STEM education courses and esports over the years. We have also made investments in sports. Therefore, this new programme on TVC is an educational initiative that has the potential to stimulate the intellect and provide entertainment while incentivising participants. This is the rationale behind our sponsorship of the programme.” This highlights the educational and intellectual aspect that the partnership seeks to introduce into gaming.
Establishing a new benchmark
Since innovation is the core of the regulatory ambition of the LSLGA, this partnership is setting a new direction for gaming in Lagos State. The emphasis on integrity, compliance, and player well-being will ensure a standard for the operation of gaming activities.
