Absolute Sports, the Nazara Technologies subsidiary that operates sports media brand Sportskeeda, has online wrestling content platforms TJRWrestling.net and ITRWrestling.com for ₹10.5 crore ($1.25 million) in an all-cash deal. The acquisition is aimed at strengthening the company’s foothold in the global combat sports content space, particularly in the US market.
TJRWrestling, founded in 2009, is known for its detailed Pay-Per-View and television show reviews. ITRWrestling, launched in 2020, covers wrestling news across major promotions including WWE, AEW, and IMPACT.
Together, the two websites attract approximately 1.7 million monthly active users and generate 4.6 million pageviews each month, primarily from North America. In 2024, the platforms earned a combined revenue of ₹6.1 crore ($722,000).
As part of the deal, Sportskeeda Inc is acquiring the intellectual property rights of both platforms from Titan Insider Digital. This includes their brand assets, domain names, published content, and social media accounts.
The acquisition supports Absolute Sports’ continued push into the US digital media space. The United States is already the largest market for the company, contributing approximately 69.1 percent of its revenue in FY24. Of the company’s total revenue of ₹196 crore for the year, ₹135.4 crore came from the US.
Absolute Sports CEO Ajay Pratap Singh said, “ITRWrestling and TJRwrestling are two of the most respected voices in the global wrestling community. This acquisition aligns perfectly with our vision to be the leading go-to destination for wrestling content worldwide. It also reinforces Absolute Sports’ dedication to expanding its footprint in the fast-growing US media market through a targeted and impactful M&A strategy.”
Last year, Nazara Technologies acquired a 47.7 percent stake in Moonshine Technology, the parent company of PokerBaazi. This significant acquisition, valued at $100.24 million, marks a pivotal moment in the Indian gaming industry. Additionally, Nazara will infuse $18.07 million in primary capital into Moonshine through compulsory convertible preference shares.
In March 2023, the company acquired Pro Football Network for ₹16 crore ($1.82 million). In June 2024, it purchased SoapCentral, an entertainment content destination, for ₹11.6 crore ($1.4 million), followed by the acquisition of gaming content platform Deltia’s Gaming for ₹7.5 crore ($900,000) in August.
