KRAFTON Inc. has announced that the PUBG Global Series 8 (PGS 8) will commence on 12 May 2025. This esports tournament for PUBG: Battlegrounds will feature 24 of the world’s top professional teams. The event will take place in Shanghai, China, and run until 18 May 2025, starting with a Group Stage and concluding with a Final Stage.
The tournament has two major stages: the Group Stage from 12-14 May 2025, and the Final Stage from 16-18 May 2025. It is a heated competition, and each round matters in this high-pressure, internationally televised faceoff. 14 teams qualified through brutal regional qualifiers. These teams have fought their way through hotly contested local tournaments just to reach here. 10 Global Partner Teams, elite organisations directly invited due to their consistent performance in the PUBG competitive scene, will also participate. These teams have earned their spots through ongoing involvement, akin to receiving a VIP pass.
The group stage of the consists of 24 teams in three groups (A, B, C) of eight teams each. Two groups compete every day, and a diverse mix of contestants is guaranteed. The group stage runs for three days with six matches every day, a total of 18 matches. It guarantees high-energy action throughout.
The top 16 teams from the group stage qualify for the Final Stage only, so each match becomes significant. The final stage of the PUBG Global Series (PGS) features 18 matches over three days, where consistency and clutch plays are crucial. The top 16 teams start fresh, competing for the PGS 8 championship.
The PUBG Global Series (PGS) 8 offers a $300,000 prize pool, with the winning team taking home $100,000. The remaining prize money is distributed based on final standings, ensuring all teams earn something, but the top team gets the most.
PGS Points are crucial for qualification for the PUBG Global Championship (PGC) 2025. The top four teams with the highest cumulative PGS Points secure automatic entry to the year-end championship. People can watch the live broadcast of PGS 8 at 7 PM KST on , Chzzk, SOOP, and Naver TV.
China’s 17Gaming, the PGS 7 champions, are coming into PGS 8 with a bullseye on their back and a strong intent to retain their title. Korea’s Dplus KIA, finishing as runners-up in PGS 7, are set to take the win, with firepower at their disposal and strategy at play.
Veteran teams Gen.G and T1 from Korea are also returning, armed with legacy status and experience. Their tactical depth and strong fan support make them formidable contenders in PGS 8.
