Tan Hee Teck steps down as CEO of Genting Singapore and Resorts World Sentosa
Genting Singapore has announced that long-serving executive Tan Hee Teck will retire from his positions as CEO of Genting Singapore and Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) on 31 May 2025. Tan, 69, has decided to step down from all his executive and board roles but will remain in a support role until 30 November to help ensure a smooth leadership transition.
Tan first joined Genting Group in 1982 and held several senior roles across various regions. He was appointed CEO of RWS in 2007 and led the successful bid to develop the integrated resort, which opened in 2010. He became CEO of Genting Singapore in May 2022.
“It has been an incredible honor to be part of Genting Singapore for over 20 years,” .
He added, “I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished together, especially introducing RWS to the world, and now beginning its exciting transformation into RWS 2.0. As I approach my 70th birthday, I look forward to a new chapter where I can devote time to pursue my interests and do more in giving back to society. I would like to express my immense gratitude to my management team and 7,300 colleagues for this extraordinary ride of my life – it was only through their dedication and strong support that we have been able to achieve all that we did. My legacy will be leaving behind a team that is incredibly talented, passionate and well-positioned for the road ahead, especially to drive the transformation of RWS into a global tourism icon.”
Leadership transition announced
From 1 June, Genting Group Chairman and Executive Chairman of Genting Singapore, Lim Kok Thay, will take on the role of Acting CEO of Genting Singapore. At the same time, Lee Shi Ruh, current President of RWS, will be appointed as the new CEO of Resorts World Sentosa.
Lee joined the Group in 2010 and has held several key leadership roles, including Chief Financial Officer of the Company and Director on the RWS board. She assumed the role of President of RWS in September 2023 as part of a planned leadership succession. As CEO, she will oversee daily operations, financial matters, and strategic development for the integrated resort. She will also continue to serve as the company’s CFO.

The company’s board expressed gratitude to Tan for his “invaluable contributions and guidance to the board and the company during his tenure.”
